His journey has been marked by self-discipline, hard work, and a constant desire to help the people he meets daily. He thinks of his job as a privilege because he gets to be a part of a patient's healthcare journey. He is proud to help people feel better and calm down by giving them the best care based on his best training. Dr Mbabuike also tries to be creative and always looks for ways to improve his practice. Also, as he moves up in his career, he wants to help others by inspiring the next generation of doctors, especially Black men who are still hard to find in medicine.

Role and responsibilities now.

In New York City, Dr Mbabuike works as a doctor. His current practice is mostly about managing and treating chronic pain, like severe arthritis. Dr Mbabuike treats orthopaedic pain in the knees, shoulders, hips, back, and other places without surgery. He keeps track of his patients over time and makes personalized plans for each one based on their needs.

History in school and medical school

Dr. Mbabuike began his education in a prestigious accelerated B.S./M.D. program at City College of New York's Sophie Davis School of Medicine (now CUNY School of Medicine). This meant that the high school seniors had to decide early on if they wanted to go into medicine after high school and before college.

The Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program at the Cuny School of Medicine tries to help high-achieving high school students get into an accelerated program that will help fill the shortage of minority students in the medical field.

To get into this program, you must pay special attention to your high school grades in core subjects like math, science, and communications. The show also looks at community service and personality traits like maturity, compassion, and drive. To apply, you must do well on standardized tests, have a high grade point average, write three essays, and get five letters of recommendation.

Dr Mbabuike stood out in these areas and was chosen to be one of the 50 to 60 students admitted to the program each year. This program allowed him to start a 7-year path to a bachelor's degree in science and a medical doctorate. Dr Mbabuike got his bachelor's degree in three years at City College of New York. He then went to the New York University Grossman School of Medicine and earned his M.D.

History of Work

After he graduated from the NYU School of Medicine, Dr Mbabuike did his surgical training at some of the best hospitals in the NYC area, including New York Presbyterian Cornell, Westchester Medical Center, Lenox Hill, and Mount Sinai Beth Israel. Dr Mbabuike got training in both general surgery and orthopaedic surgery. During this time, he did a lot of clinical work and gained a lot of experience, and he also took part in and published original and advanced research projects.

Skills and Experience in the Workplace

Dr Mbabuike is currently interested in all aspects of pain management, focusing on chronic pain caused by severe arthritis. Dr Mbabuike is focusing on aesthetic medicine in his practice because he wants to stay on the cutting edge and meet the changing treatment needs. In aesthetics, like pain management, Dr. Mbabuike can focus on making personalized plans for each patient to help them feel the best. By moving into this new area, Dr. Mbabuike has been able to keep pushing himself professionally and support a mindset of continually learning more.

Dr Mbabuike is dedicated to giving the best care possible to his patients, no matter what speciality he is in. Pain management requires talking to people who want or need to avoid surgery but have problems with their quality of life because their joints hurt so much. This requires patience, thought, and a strong desire to understand.

In the same way, aesthetic consultations and procedures also involve talking to patients who feel vulnerable and want to change. Dr Mbabuike is good in any field because he can connect with people and make them feel comfortable enough to discuss their deepest worries and have surgery.

Philanthropy and Giving to Charity

Dr Mbabuike is a Nigerian-American born and raised in New York City. He is one of the few Black men who work in medicine. Because of this, Dr Mbabuike has always felt a strong sense of duty and desire to make the journey more accessible and common for people like him. He thinks having a mentor is a critical way to level the playing field for young Black men like himself who want to go into medicine. Dr. Mbabuike wants not only to show people how to do well and do well in a career in medicine, but also to give people a way into the field that will last long after he is gone.

A 2019 study on the diversity of the national medical body published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that Black men made up 3.1% of medical students in 1978, but only 2.9% of students in 2019.

In 1978, 3.1% of all medical students in the United States were Black men. In 2019, that number dropped to 2.9%, with a solid 0.5% coming from medical schools at historically black colleges and universities.

Dr Mbabuike and a group of other Black male doctors were worried about the future of Black men in medicine, so they started an organization called the Black Male Initiative, or BMI, to help lift up and mentor Black men in treatment. The group wants to connect with students and Black men who are already working so they can share resources and discuss workplace problems.

The group hopes that by doing these things, more Black men will be able to finish medical school and move up in their careers. Dr. Mbabuike keeps doing this vital work to help make medicine more fair and equal.
